Welcome to our wonderfully chaotic corner of the internet — a blog about many things, but mostly about our adventures in homesteading, gardening, ducks, and small-farm life.

We’re the duo behind The Quakken Nursery, an organic homestead, and backyard nursery where we grow plants, wrangle animals, and share our triumphs (and the occasional disasters) from the farm. Here, you’ll find honest stories, sustainable-living experiments, and tips we learned the hard way.

Meet TreVice
Gardener, Musician, Philosopher

TreVice is an adventurous organic gardener and avid musician with a fascination for astrophysics and philosophy.

You’ll find him in the nursery, in the garden, or talking to ducks like they’re co-workers. His curiosity fuels much of our experimentation in sustainable gardening and DIY innovation.

Meet Jeska
Author, Herbalist, Reluctant Electrician

Jeska is a creative homebody with a love for old books, herbs, and baked things. She’s also the author of several fantasy novels, an experienced herbalist, and a reluctant dabbler in plumbing, construction, and wiring. You’ll often find her elbow-deep in dough, dirt, or DIY projects around the homestead.

How We Work (or Try To)

We try to keep each other on track so projects actually get finished… but the ADHD has other plans.

Our interests are many, our attention spans questionable, and we’ve fully embraced the jack-of-all-trades lifestyle. (See why we switched from Chickens to Ducks!)

We live on a small organic farm where ducks, dogs, and cats keep us humble. Jeska bakes far too many gluten-free treats for TreVice, and TreVice retaliates by trying to sneak extra vegetables onto her plate. Together, we balance books, plants, animals, and sanity (barely).

We believe everyone can enjoy a little piece of the homestead life, whether that means planting a fruit tree, raising a few ducks, or learning a new skill.
