Do you have 2 weeks of food and 3 days of water on hand in the event of an emergency?

Texas regularly suffers from winter power outages and ice storms, making it hard to get food and water from the store.

Stock your pantry with a few extra items that you normally eat so that you don't go hungry if you are sick or the weather is bad.

Water Storage for Emergencies:

1 Gallon of water
Per Person
Per Day

If you have 3 people in your house, you should store 3 gallons of water for each day you expect to be without water.

Don't forget to store a little extra if you have pets.

Pro Tip: Washed out juice jugs make good water storage containers

Building an Emergency Food Supply:

Start with shelf stable foods your family normally eats. Spaghetti, Ramen Noodles, Soups, and Mac N Cheese are all good starting points for your emergency food supply.

Pick up one or two extra items each time you go to the grocery store. It won't take long before you have a supply of food to protect you in the event of food instability, weather emergencies, or price hikes.

Rotate, Rotate, Rotate

Don't let your food and water go bad. Eat what you buy and replace what you eat.

Make a habit of draining and refilling emergency water at least once a year. If you are relying on bottled water, have an extra case on hand and replace the first case when you drink it.
